We are happy to share that vocalist Scott McGowan will be featured singing “Can You Feel the Love Tonight,” “A Day in the Life of a Fool,” “Almost Like Being in Love, and “As Time Goes By” with the Garden State Symphonic Band. Scott is an award-winning actor in both musicals and plays and will be making his Concerts by the Bay debut. Led by Music Director & Conductor Ginny Johnston. Concerts are always free (but donations are always welcome) and family-friendly.

Maplewood Concert Band – Summer Sounds

The Maplewood Concert Band will perform its Annual Summer Concert as part of the Essex County Parks Jammin’ in July Waterfront Concert Series.  Ginny will be conducting and playing clarinet.

The program will feature a variety of patriotic and popular favorites, including Selections from Encanto by Lin-Manuel Miranda, Looney Tunes Overture arranged by Bill Holcombe, and The Spirit of ’76, based on songs from the era of George Washington and the American Revolution, arranged by Clare Grundman, amongst others.

In the event of rain, the concert will be held on Wednesday, July 22, at 7:00 p.m.  This family-friendly event is free and open to the public.

Annual Spring Concert – Maplewood Concert Band

Ginny will be conducting and playing clarinet.  The program will feature a mix of pieces as we continue our “alphabet” of repertoire from titles from “H” to “P”! Selections include Brahms’ “Hungarian Dance No. 5”, the “Looney Tunes Overture” and a medley from the Broadway show “My Fair Lady”.

Canticles for Life

Triad Arts Ensemble is partnering with two area churches for the 2026 Canticles for Life AIDS Benefit Concert to raise much-needed funds that will impact many lives. Proceeds raised will directly benefit three NJ organizations that support those impacted by HIV/AIDS and in memory of those lost to the disease, as well as raise awareness, dispel ignorance and help to shine compassion.

Canticles Chairperson Ginny Johnston will conduct the 30-voice Triad Vocal Ensemble, which will feature a mix of styles including traditional anthems, pop arrangements, and brand new works. The Dan Crisci Jazz Trio will offer several instrumental songs, including original selections from Dan’s recent recordings. Rounding out the program will be the genre-bending folk trio Mad Agnes.  Additionally, panels from the AIDS Memorial Quilt will be on display, and there will be a time of reflection and sharing by representatives from the charities.   Reception to follow each concert.
