Concerts by the Bay will present a FREE, family-friendly performance by the professional Garden State Symphonic Band as they continue their 2026 Sunday afternoon concert series on Sunday, August 2 at 3:00 PM.
Conductor Ginny Johnston will lead the 32-member ensemble featuring marches by John Philip Sousa, music from “Raiders of the Lost Ark” and the Broadway show “Dear Evan Hansen” as well as American standards by Gershwin, Lloyd Webber and others sung by guest vocalist AJ Minutillo. Bring your lawn chairs and enjoy the beautiful scenery at Bayview Park in Perth Amboy.
If inclement weather, the concert will be held indoors at the nearby Jankowski Center. See the Concerts by the Bay website for more info. Major support provided by the City of Perth Amboy Recreation Department, the Arts Institute of Middlesex County, and the Music Performance Trust Fund of the American Federation of Musicians.

Concerts by the Bay kicks off the season with a special free 250th USA Celebration performance featuring a variety of American music – from Sousa to Copland, Ives to Lin-Manuel Miranda and more. Led by Music Director & Conductor Ginny Johnston, our 32-member professional band will be joined by long-time CBTB vocalist Rick Bossman! Concerts by the Bay – July 19, 2026
We are happy to share that vocalist Scott McGowan will be featured singing “Can You Feel the Love Tonight,” “A Day in the Life of a Fool,” “Almost Like Being in Love, and “As Time Goes By” with the Garden State Symphonic Band. Scott is an award-winning actor in both musicals and plays and will be making his Concerts by the Bay debut. Led by Music Director & Conductor Ginny Johnston. Concerts are always free (but donations are always welcome) and family-friendly.

Maplewood Concert Band – Summer Sounds
The Maplewood Concert Band will perform its Annual Summer Concert as part of the Essex County Parks Jammin’ in July Waterfront Concert Series. Ginny will be conducting and playing clarinet.
The program will feature a variety of patriotic and popular favorites, including Selections from Encanto by Lin-Manuel Miranda, Looney Tunes Overture arranged by Bill Holcombe, and The Spirit of ’76, based on songs from the era of George Washington and the American Revolution, arranged by Clare Grundman, amongst others.
In the event of rain, the concert will be held on Wednesday, July 22, at 7:00 p.m. This family-friendly event is free and open to the public.

Annual Spring Concert – Maplewood Concert Band
Ginny will be conducting and playing clarinet. The program will feature a mix of pieces as we continue our “alphabet” of repertoire from titles from “H” to “P”! Selections include Brahms’ “Hungarian Dance No. 5”, the “Looney Tunes Overture” and a medley from the Broadway show “My Fair Lady”.
